15 men squad of the Indian Team for ICC Cricket World Cup 2020

7th of Jan being the final date for selection of the 15 men squad for the ICC world cup and the tri series, Squad for the Indian team has been announced. The team has the 2011 winning captain MS Dhoni leading the 15 men squad. India will be playing the opener against Pakistan on February 15. Looking at the selected squad there are only four players that would be seen from the previous world cup which includes MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, Virat Kohli and R Ashwin.

  12. Axar Patel: This all rounder cricketer is a left handed batsman and slow left arm orthodox bowler.
  13. Umesh Yadav: Having proved his potential during India’s tour of Australia in 2011-12, Umesh Yadav is a right handed batsman and a right arm fast bowler.
  14. Stuart Binny: Son of one of the chief architects of India’s 1983 world cup, Stuart Binny is a right handed batsman and right arm medium bowler.
  15. Ambati Raydu: What caught the selector’s eyes for Raydu was his maiden century against Sri Lanka in the home series. He is a right handed batsman and a right arm off spin bowler.

Shahid Afridi to retire from ODIs

Shahid Afridi one of the best players and an all rounder of the Pakistan Cricket Team have decided to take retirement from the One Day Internationals. He would be quitting the ODIs after the 2015 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. As mentioned by Afridi, he wanted to choose his own timing for stepping down.
Afridi also mentioned that he wants to go out of ODIs with self-respect and with his fans wanting more from him. He would be continuing the captainship for the Twenty20 and would like to solely focus on winning the T20 world cup India in 2016. The 34 year old cricketer has played 386 ODI matches till now with 27 tests and 77 T20 matches for Pakistan. He made his debut in the ODI at the age of 16 in October 1996 against Sri Lanka in Nairobi and had set a record for the fastest 100 off 37 balls. The record stood unbroken for 17 years after that.
Afridi has got an average of 23.49 and strike rate of 116.39 in the ODIs and has also taken 391 wickets with score of 7870 runs so far. Afridi retired from the Test matches in 2010 during the series against Australia in England. He is the first Pakistani cricket player who has been able to announce his retirement properly.
